Northlake resident Jamie DePaolo has been elected to serve as the new president of Triton College’s Alumni Association Council, a group dedicated to developing and maintaining relationships between the college and its former and current students.
DePaolo graduated from Triton College in 2014 with an associate degree in science, before transferring to DePaul University where she earned a degree in communications. During her time at Triton, DePaolo was active in several clubs, and served as the student representative on the Triton College Board of Trustees during the 2013-2014 school year. DePaolo works on the Brand Experience team at United Entertainment Group (UEG), a leading global entertainment, sports and lifestyle marketing agency. She is also an active member of the Echo Theatre Collective in Oak Park.
“The goal is to expand alumni engagement and strengthen the relationships Triton has with our alumni.” De Paolo said of her goals as the council’s president. “Whether it’s identifying opportunities to have more socials or increasing turnout to our yearly fundraisers to allow us to give out more scholarships, we’re willing to explore all sorts of ideas.”
DePaolo will be sworn in as president during the August 2017 Alumni Council meeting.
Additionally, Andrew Hock was re-elected to serve as the council’s vice-president, Bill Justiz was re-elected treasurer, and Gina Pesko was elected secretary. Hock, class of 2003, currently serves as deputy chief of the Elmwood Park Police Department; Justiz, class of 2002, is a member of the Chicago Fire Department as well as an adjunct faculty member in Triton’s Emergency Medical Technology Program; and Pesko, class of 1985, currently serves as village clerk of Elmwood Park.
The Alumni Council, which is the governing body of Triton’s Alumni Association, meets on a quarterly basis to establish organizational priorities, promote membership in the association, advise staff on issues relevant to alumni and provide support for the programs and initiatives of the Alumni Association. Council members assist in reconnecting and engaging alumni with their alma mater through social events, self-enrichment workshops and varied outreach efforts.
Additionally, council members promote fundraising efforts that benefit current students through alumni scholarships. The Alumni Association appointed its first Alumni Council in 2013, charged with providing leadership and guidance for the activities of the association.
