The RSVP of West Suburban Cook and Southern DuPage Counties is looking for volunteer assistance with a partner in Norridge.
The Senior Assistance Center, located at 7774 W. Irving Park Road in Norridge, needs assistance with the following volunteer opportunities:
Home Delivered Meals Program: Hot, nutritious meals are delivered Mondays through Fridays to homebound seniors. Volunteers pick up the prepared hot meals and deliver them following a route within the communities the center serves. The time commitment is a couple of hours per week.
Friendly Visitor Program: Volunteers are needed to offer companionship to lonely seniors in the community. Volunteers may read aloud, have coffee or tea with a senior, play a game, do some crafts, or go on an occasional outing.
Telephone Reassurance Program: Volunteers are needed to call seniors 60 years and older who wish to receive well-being calls. Volunteers make telephone calls between 9 a.m. and noon.
Volunteer Office Support: The center is in need of volunteer assistance answering phones, greeting clients, making copies, or doing other general clerical activities. Computer skills are helpful for data entry. Volunteers are needed to help out 9 a.m. to noon or noon to 4 p.m.
Advisory Council Members: The Seniors Assistance Center is looking for caring people who are actively involved in the community to gain input into the needs, reactions and desires of the senior community, to speak about and promote the center’s available services. The Advisory Council meets four times a year on the fourth Thursday of January, April, July and October at 9:30 a.m. at the Seniors Assistance Center.
