Released Aug. 26, 2016

In this her ninth album, Ms. Spears seems to draw inspiration from another icon – Janet Jackson. I mean this in the best way possible. Sticking with that Pop formula that made her famous, Britney is Glory-ous! I couldn’t help it, and yes, I know that is not how you spell glorious!

Glory contains 12 tracks, most with a techno-synthesized sound popular in clubs. The very first track, titled ‘Invitation’, is the first of a few songs on here that remind me of Janet (Ms. Jackson if you’re Nasty!). I can see cute club-couples slow dancing to this tune. Very chill and breezy.

Ms. Spears has grown up in her lyrics, for example the song ‘Just Love Me’… “All I need is your love and a little bit of patience…”, which has a good, simple beat that I would say is another slow club song. Another great track titled ‘Do you want to come over?’ is fast, with a slow-down in tempo, but has a fun, upbeat chant. “…cause all I want is what you want, and what you want is me…yeah, all you want is what I want, and what I want is you…”. I think we all know the meaning in these lyrics.

Familiar adult themes pop up, like in the track ‘Just Like Me’, an ode to a cheater, and how he managed to find her twin to cheat on her with… “I just can’t …she looks…just like me…just like me…”. The song ‘What You Need’ is fast and I believe it possesses the funk and brass of a Tina Turner song. Catchy and sassy.

If you are an Amazon Prime member, you can listen to the whole album streaming on Amazon. I was lucky enough to hear the Deluxe Version [Explicit], which has five more tracks, one of which called ‘Liar’, which contains the lyrics “…I hear you all night, talk in your sleep, saying all kinda names, but none of them me, keeping secrets under your sheets….I ain’t fucking with your dirty laundry!”. Hard to believe anyone would cheat on Britney. The last song on the Deluxe Version is called ‘Coupure Electrique’ (translated to English is ‘Blackout’) is all in French, having just attempted to study French recently, I can honestly say she sounds like she is fluent, and pronounces words beautifully.

With plenty of fun, upbeat tracks on this album, all Britney fans will be very satisfied. This album has debuted at no.3 on the Billboard 200 chart. Not bad for a single mom.
