Live From New York! It’s 40 Years of Saturday Night Live!

SNL40 Has it really been 40 years? Believe it or not, Saturday Night Live is celebrating 40 years on the air. The man that made this possible, producer Lorne Michaels. Michaels was just a 30-year-old Canadian, with no live TV experience, since then, it has been a roller coaster of high and low ratings, and the coming and going of several talented people.

In 1975, the first Not-Ready-For-Prime-Time players were of course: Dan Ackroyd, John Belushi, , Chevy Chase, Jane Curtain , Garrett Morris, Bill Murray, Lorraine Newman, and Gilda Radner.

Those who auditioned for Lorne Michaels, and did not make it: Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Lisa Kudrow, and Jim Carrey. He has admitted in an interview that he regretted not hiring these four talents.

As I write this article, I have an episode of SNL playing on Netflix. It is cast member Bill Hader’s last episode as he has decided to leave. Watching Hader hug his fellow cast mates, as the credits roll, you can see most of them very near tears. I myself, a huge saturday_night_live_archiveBill Hader fan, am also choked up just watching them.

Here’s hoping they last another 40 years.

Journalism Suffers Blows from Top anchors

By Jeramie L Bizzle

williams pic The month of February was filled with the biggest news from the topped acclaimed anchors as some lied and some gave their resignation.

The world of reporting has shifted dramatically ever since a report from Brian Williams, anchor for NBC news, was proven false by a whistle blower. The punishment that Williams sustained was a six month suspension from his job. Williams recalled a story of his plane being shot down while on assignment in Iraq during a newscast, but after the story was proven not to be in the records, he apologized for the story as he says that it is hard to recall a story in its entirety when it happened years ago.

Other news that shook the news world was John Stewart’s announcement that he was leaving the daily show. Stewart said that it is time for someone else to have the opportunity to have their time. Although he made the announcement, he didn’t give the official date of his departure from the show; he did mention it will be probably by the end of the year.

Recently, Bill O’Reilly has been the latest reporter in the spot of controversy of lying about his combat story. According to the Huffington Post, he lied about a number of events including Bill picwitnessing the suicide of George de Mohrenschildt and witnessing the execution of four Salvadoran Nuns. More lies about O’Rielly are continuing to come to the light, which leaves fans of the show asking will O’Rielly endure a similar punishment as Williams?

Journalism is more than just showing up, talking to people, and writing about what happened. Journalist must undergo a code of facts, facts, and facts. A journalist who is caught lying or writing false reports can not only get fired from their position, but their credibility will be forever tarnished making it hard to get hired elsewhere. Rumor has it that Stewart could go to anchor in the absence of Williams, but it’s only a rumor. Lately Stewart has been combining the world of politics with the entertainment of the WWE by having a mock feud with superstar Seth Rollins.

John Stewart pic            No word yet on what will happen to O’Rielly and what’s next for Williams, but these shocking stories is a wakeup call for journalist to stay on their toes.

Must Have Games for Phones and Tablets

immortalsBy Jeramie L Bizzle

If you just bought a brand new smart phone or tablet than you are in the beginning stages of personalizing it and add music and wallpapers to it. While you are personalizing your phone, make sure that you don’t forget the games. These games are not only fun and helps kill time in between classes, but the best part is they’re free.

WWE IMMORTALS If you are a fan of Mortal Kombat or injustice, this game is for you. WWE superstars are taking out of the ring and into dark environments as they fight against each other but with costumleps world pices and powers that exhibit their characters. Fans get to play as Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, and Brie Bella just to name a few. The only issue with the game is that it works better on Galaxy and IPhones, those with other brands may experience heavy buffering and longer download time.

LEP’s WORLD (1-3) For those who are fans of the Mario Bros. this game is a great download. Exactly similar to the game play of Mario, the game follows a leprechaun who is going through various worlds to save his family. The third installment allows you to play as any member of Lep’s family including him. This game is better played on screens such as the Galaxy notes and IPhone 6 Plus. Game still works well on smaller screens, but your thumb may block parts of the stages that can kill you earlier.

TRIVIA CRACK Who said learning can’t be fun? This simple trivia game allows friends a chance to go head to head in the game of who has the most knowledge of book and street knowledge. It features questions in history, science, geography, entertainment, sports, and art. Challenge friends or random players from all over.

Marvel Contest of chamtriviacrackpions  This game is as close to Marvel vs. Capcom you can get on your phone. Battle as some of you favorite marvel comic heroes, and prove your character is better. Same as any combat game, the only flaw again is the download time. Even on the best phones, through Wi-Fi it will take as long as an hour or two to download.

Although these games are fun and addictive, we can’t forget about games that are still creating buzz such as Angry birdsBowling, and phone emulators including NES and Nintendo 64. As more games continue to create buzz underneath the radar, 5AJ will find them and make sure that they’re in your phone or tablet.
