River Grove, Ill. – Triton College’s Performing Arts Department will hold auditions for its first production of the season, “Art” by Yasmina Reza.
Auditions will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 18 and 19, with callbacks scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 20. The auditions are open to the Triton community as well as community members.
Director Amy Fenton is looking for three males, ranging in age from their late 30’s to their early 50’s. Those who audition should prepare two contrasting monologues and bring a photo/headshot and a resume detailing one’s performance experience.
Actors are expected to be available for seven performances from Nov. 9-18, 2012.
“Art” examines the friendship between Serge, Marc and Yvan when Serge spends an obscene amount of money on a modern painting. While Marc is disgusted by the piece of art his friend has bought, Yvan, on the other hand, attempts to see both sides of the story, though unsuccessfully. “Art” is a rapid-fire comedy with verbal wit and an intelligent riff on culture, friendship … and art. The production was written by French playwright Reza and has been produced worldwide and translated into more than 30 languages. The play won the 1997 Olivier Award for Best Comedy and the 1998 Tony Award.
