What’s Happening this Summer?

Tired of being in the city? Need a mini vacation? Then look no further, because we have a great list of local getaways to make sure your Chicago summer is a fun one!

Six Flags Great America: Located just north of Chicago in Gurnee, Great America has a ton of deals and attractions to offer this summer, including a new roller coaster, new season pass deals, and much more! Nostalgic coaster fans will remember Triton’s former neighbor Kiddieland, which closed in the summer of 2009. Fortunately, Kiddieland Lives on at Great America!  “The Little Dipper”, which used to thrill adults and children from the area when it stood in the park on the corner of North and 1st Ave in Melrose Park, is been moved and rebuilt at Great America! While you wait in line, enjoy a “Kiddieland” history lesson by reading the panels building along the ride entrance! Come and relive some great memories of the past.

The Patio Theater: This 1927 movie house reopened after 10 years last June, and has been pleasing thousands of Chicagoans ever since! With It’s beautiful original façade, classic marquee, ornate 2 story lobby, and a 1500 seat atmospheric auditorium featuring a ceiling full of twinkling stars and drifting clouds, this unique historic theatre with definitely provide a night at the movies you’ll never forget! With a new second-run film every week, and tickets only $5, it’s a great way to spend a hot summer night.

Millennium Park New Music Mondays: Head down to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion each Monday this summer to get a sampling of some of today’s hottest new indie music.

Milwaukee Summerfest:  Drive up to Milwaukee this summer to enjoy the “World’s Largest Music Festival”. Tickets to the festival are only $16 per day, and feature some of today hottest music. Headliners include ZZ Top, Death Cap for Cutie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Head & The Heart, Cake, The Roots, The B52s, The Beach Boys, Lady Antebellum, Lupe Fiasco, Hanson, The BoDeans, Train, Mayer Hawthorne, Chicago, and many more!
