For most students who are returning to Triton or just starting their academic journey, the hassle of the first week can be hectic. With all the registering, book buying and long lines for counselors, students have been running around like chickens with their heads cut off. But with the help of Program board and TCSA, students had a perfect introduction to the Triton community during “Welcome Back Week” at the campus.
Welcome Back Week lasted from August 22nd to the 25th, and was filled with various activities for all students to participate in between their classes. The fun filled week kicked off with “Wii Day”, where students came to show their skills in Guitar Hero and their dancing ability in “Dance Dance Revelation”. The fun and games continued with the “Brain Storm Game Show”, where groups participate in questionnaires win a $50 prize..
What’s the college life without having a group or organization to belong to? “Club Day” gave a chance for former group members to catch up, and allowed the freshmen to browse various groups (such as Program Board, TCSA, Bible Club and BASA) to see what club suits their interest. With all that was going on, this back to school party is not a party until we had some music to jam to. The Loop came through to show Triton College love by rocking out with the students. The week ended with the always popular Scavenger hunt in which students run around the campus collecting items on their list to win the prize of a $100 Visa gift card.
The beginning of a new semester is stressful for everyone. The event coordinators at Triton understand that college shouldn’t be just about books and long nights of studying. They want to give students the same college experience that they had. The week was a way to say “Hello and welcome back!!!” to its new recruits and future alum.
“Thank you to everyone who came out and made Welcome Back Week another success and want to wish everyone a fantastic semester. Good Luck!” – The offices of Program Board and TCSA,
